Bethania is a Christian mission that brings hope and wholeness to poor, handicapped and abandoned children in India. It provides for both their physical and spiritual needs. Bethania Kids began in 1987 when a small group of Christians in India and America were moved with compassion to reach out with God’s love to a few destitute and orphaned children. Today, Bethania's ministries include five Bethania Kids Homes for boys and girls where they meet the daily needs of these children and equip them in the development of their faith, vocation and vision for their lives. Additionally there are seven Bethania Kids Centers providing daycare and aftercare programs for children—providing a safe place for the children while their parents work. These centers also provide families with weekend medical and dental clinics as well as social and worship activities. The ultimate aim of the Kids Centers is to care for and train children from poor and needy families and to share with them the love of Jesus Christ, equipping them to be like seeds on the wind--sharing Christ's love with others. Bethania's Rehabilitation Center and Diagnostic Facility meets the special needs of disabled children. Altogether Bethania serves about 600 children . In addition to the above, Bethania Kids offers therapy, training, nutrition and medical care to children and adults with multiple physical and mental disabilities. In many cases, participants learn lifelong skills that enable them to become contributing members of their families. Since its inception, Bethania's board members have committed to personally fund all administrative costs such that 100% of all contributions go to help the children. Thrivent Finanicial for Lutherans members may have their gifts to Bethania Kids matched. It requires only a gift of $240 a year to provide support for a child for an entire year!
